KoM for Stages 1-3

[edit]

The official website does not list any KoM information for stages 1-3. Although I did hear something about Tom Leezer on the television broadcast, it's hard to argue with the results on the official website and cyclingnews.com. Before adding Tom Leezer again, please provide a source. Malo0178 (talk) 20:19, 1 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

doe anyone know if the 4th category peak on Sunday's stage was the lowest peak to ever have been categorized as a hill on a major tour?

The "peak" was at 15m - oddly not the high point of the stage, which reached the dizzying height of 20m.

It is possible that this is also the flattest ever stage?

Arachrah (talk) 17:36, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It was 30 m's above sea level, the highest point the region, with actually no inclination whatsoever. The 'climb' was awarded with no mountain points, although the winner of the sprint there would be in the lead of the mountain jersey, albeit with no points. So that's why Tom Leezer wore the mountain jersey for two days. The jersey -was- awarded, although web sources state otherwise. The 'climb' was a tribute to the man, politician and cycling fanatic, who singlehandedly brought the Vuelta to Drenthe, but unfortunately didn't live to see it, Relus ter Beek. His grave in the woods is only a stone's throw away from the sprint. Kweniston (talk) 23:22, 1 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mountains jersey

[edit]

It's red. And what do you mean, you've seen this in every other article including the Tour de France? The Tour de France does not award a red jersey. If you're talking about the center of the table using a lighter shade than the top and bottom, yes, but not so much that it's a different color entirely. Alex finds herself awake at night (Talk · What keeps her up) 03:18, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm pretty sure I've grasped that the jersey itself is red. And I'm glad you've got a firm grasp on the primary colors. As you can see in 2009 Vuelta al País Vasco, 2009 Tour de Romandie, 2009 Volta a Catalunya, 2009 Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré, 2009 Tour de Pologne, as well as the polka-dot (red) jersey in the TdF, they use a lighter shade in the middle. Pink, salmon, whatever. Are you really arguing that pink is not a lighter shade of red? Would you prefer another variation that is not a jersey color in any other race? The red on red gets to be a problem if the rider doesn't have a page, that's really all I care about. Malo0178 (talk) 03:35, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well for one thing, if a rider who doesn't have an article is awarded the jersey, he'll have one written for him very soon after. And even so, only a handful of riders from the lesser ProContinental teams have redlinks among their ridership. And actually, as I look at the table right now, only this column has a lighter shade in the middle than the bottom - the others are all the same, or so close to it the difference is negligible. Pink is not red. And the fact that there is such a thing as a pink jersey in other races makes this an issue. Frankly, the color being used for the teams classification would be better than the pink, though I really can't see any problem with FF0000. And yes, pink is a shade of red. But isn't violet a shade of blue? Alex finds herself awake at night (Talk · What keeps her up) 12:42, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think both of our time would be better spent on more serious issues. Or maybe you just like to argue. The column next to it (green) has a middle section that is "lightgreen". So, we're looking for "lightred" for the mountains column? Ah, found it. They call it "pink". I made it "salmon" because I assumed you would argue that other races have a pink jersey, and then stopped caring. Malo0178 (talk) 15:13, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
What's wrong with the colors that were used last year? And your accusation that I'm just causing trouble is just hurtful enough to keep me from editing this article altogether, so mission accomplished. Alex finds herself awake at night (Talk · What keeps her up) 02:54, 4 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I mean, making one edit and then discussing it is not being disruptive. Alex finds herself awake at night (Talk · What keeps her up) 03:01, 4 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think you're being disruptive, I just think you're nitpicking. I don't think "the way we did it last year" is an argument over what I personally have found is a better way. Right now the mountains jersey wearer doesn't have a page, and the text would be very difficult to read if it were red. Simple as that. I really don't see how I'm being unfair.
